About Us

Owner Shari Wierwille is a blessed mom of 2 with more than 20 years of experience in the mold industry. Her first interaction with mold was when her son was hospitalized for pneumonia 3 times from 10-14 months old. After countless tests and analyses with no answers for its recurrence, a family friend suggested that mold may be causing his respiratory problems. Shari and her family moved to a mold-free residence and her son never had pneumonia again.

Shari saw the adverse impact of mold and other indoor air pollutants on health even more during her 15 years working in water and sewer damage, carpet cleaning and mold remediation.

For decades, mold wasn’t considered to be a primary contributor to health conditions such as asthma, sinusitis, eyes, nose and throat irritations, memory loss, etc. However, accumulating scientific findings in recent years prove that mold exposure plays a much larger role in our health than previously thought. In 2009, the World Health Organization published their “Guidelines for Indoor Air Quality,” which states that:

“Sufficient epidemiological evidence is available from studies conducted in different countries and under different climatic conditions to show that the occupants of damp or moldy buildings, both houses and public buildings, are at increased risk of respiratory symptoms, respiratory infections and exacerbation of asthma.”

Thus, Mold Testing Sciences, Inc. (MTS) originated from Shari’s passion for educating friends, family and neighbors on the danger of high concentrations of  mold spores and expanded to providing mold testing services to the entire Emerald Coast.

When Hurricane Ivan hit in September 2004, Shari was the owner of the only water damage and mold remediation company in Northwest Florida. For the next 3 months, she answered 100+ phone calls a day to restore homes and businesses. She also coordinated multiple water damage and remediation companies from North Carolina to deploy semi-truckloads of drying equipment to the Emerald Coast to ensure local businesses could reopen as quickly as possible.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, MTS is adhering to CDC guidelines and practicing safety precautions such as wearing a mask, gloves and foot coverings during inspections. Book with confidence that your safety comes first.

Shari is working hard to service and care for the residents and businesses of Okaloosa and Walton Counties.  She is equipped, skilled and ready for the task at hand.
